I operate as a solo VC. It makes me independent and a little bit like the founders I work with day to day. I believe companies are ultimately borne out of leadership and that this can be hard, and most of all, it’s a journey. I work closely with teams, when it makes sense. I actually love doing this and it’s part of what gets me out of bed in the morning. I value sincerity, authenticity and ambition when I work with teams and partners. At System.One it’s just me, there are no partner meetings and no memos, just my commitment to the founders I work with. I have been a VC since 2010, first at a larger firm and then starting System.One in 2016 as a generalist pre-seed fund. System.One Funds directly invested in over 30 companies in enterprise business models, with exposure in security, infrastructure, developer tooling, open source, distributed systems, biology and machine learning. System.One companies have created defensible and capital efficient businesses and have gone on to raise from some of the best venture capital follow-on funds.
